Absolutely! Michelle Janke, Mrs. Luce’s AA, is in the process of typing them up now. Once they are ready, we will post them to this site. Thanks for asking.
We have been going over a lot of issues that make us unhealthy –
many of you have grown up with difficult situations-
Children of divorce, children of alcoholism-
Some of us have experienced different kinds of abuse,
Some have had absent fathers or mothers.
These situations can cause unhealthy thoughts producing insecurities, abusive behavior like cutting eating, and disorder’s, depression or other mental dysfunctions.
If you have experienced these negative thought patterns about yourself. I pray that you’ll take the Word of God and transform your thoughts.
Continue to press in with your prayer lives and with the scripture – the Holy Spirit is your Counselor. He will bring up people you need to forgive, issues you need to deal with.
Your life experiences will either make you better or bitter.

Wrestle for your blessing!
My Dad always said: “We are who we are because of our parents. We stay like we are because of our choice.” We’re the only ones that can choose to change. Our future is in our own hands, not our parents. We can’t help the way we’ve been raised but we can help whether we stay crippled. We let our experiences make us better.
We want to be here for the long haul like a long distance run you have to pace yourself. WE can accomplish more for the Lord if we are healthy and alive.
So we live in misfallen world where we experience stress- broken relationships tension – there are healthy ways to deal with our stress. Most important one is the Word of God and transforming our mid, because:
Humans are made up of three parts.
Not just spirit. We have minds and bodies. We are in a physical world. We have physical bodies.
You’re not just spiritual. You can’t fast water more than 10 days or you will die.
You can’t pray for 24-7, day after day and live with out sleep. You’ll die.
Work, Worship, Rest and Play
Key components of a balanced life.
Exercise
Some experts say it is the single most important component in building superior health.
• Raises metabolism
• Reduces tension
• Clears mind
• Burns your energy
• Brings oxygen to cells and blood – blood clears out your system – Cancer cells cannot survive in oxygen environment
• Sweat gets rid of toxin
Focus on:
• Flexibility/Stretching – Warming up before and after
• Strength Training – Weights- improve muscles tone
• Aerobic Workout – fast walking, jogging, running, cycling, water sports, martial arts, dance, Pilates, tennis, aerobics – anything to get you heart rate up!
• Start slower work up!
“Your desire to change, with your decision to act on it and you discipline to do it; will turn in to delight,” says Dr. Laura Koke.
I like to run outside – I bring Belle my dog that is the happiest dog in the world- she even smiles.
• Sunshine – absorb Vitamin D from the sun everyday
• Fresh air
• Worship/Prayer/connection with God
• Great way to memorize scripture
• Think
• Listen to preaching
• Enjoy nature
Find something you like and do it 3-6 times a week. Take one day to rest.
Rest
A relaxed attitude lengthens life. Proverbs 14:30
Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest. Matt. 11:28
He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will rest under the shadow of the Almighty. Ps. 91:1
[Slow down listen to the voice of the Lord, get quiet.]
We have prioritize it, not the highest priority, but if you don’t think it is important and don’t get it, you will end up paying with sickness, mental stress even if you have to learn to take cat naps.
God told us to rest. Take a Sabbath. He did.
My roommate in College studied nursing. Her schedule was 5 AM mornings and late night studying with cat naps 4 min long.
You obviously didn’t get in 7-8 hours every night. We need this more than coffee. Not against coffee but listen to your body and slow down.
We have a fast-paced, busy culture here @ Teen Mania. In America we are taught to be workaholic’s (compulsive unrelenting need to work) is an epidemic. The average work week is 46 hrs.
Be careful not to substitute leisure for true rest, i.e., watch movie, going out with friends when you should go to bed. This can result in more weariness and exhaustion.
Don’t compare yourself. Some people need more than others. I used to think I was a heathen compared to Ron.
Need true rest. Alleviates anxiety, lowers the blood pressure, increases alertness and reduces fatigue. When you dream, it gets rid of Stress. Need sleep, sometimes refreshment can come with activities; taking a walk in fresh air, even oxygenizing room can bring peace and rest to you life. Having a good conversation, etc. Just be sensitive to when it is sleep you need the most. You need 7-8 hrs of sleep a night. The earlier you go to bed the more refreshed you will feel. Go to bed at 2 AM and wake up at 10 AM will not make you feel refreshed.
Sometimes I go to bed at 8:30 or 9:00. I feel like a new person.
When I rest – ritual – bath, wash face, brush teeth, hair, get my soft jammies on, soft and fuzzy socks – amazing Robe – soft pillow spray – good- book – not to good or you’ll stay up all night.
Love yourself. Give your body much needed beauty rest.
Play-Fun
Ways to have fun:
• Make a hot cup of tea or hot chocolate and call your best friend or your mom up on the phone
• Go outside and look at sunset or the stars on a clear night
• Paint
• Do a pedicure
• Curl up on you bed and get lost in a book on a rainy Sunday afternoon – take a nap – (nap blanket)
• Go to the mall with a friend and try on different perfumes
• Take a long walk – write a new song to the Lord.
• Rent a good movie and massage each others feet and eat chocolate
• Drink raspberry chai and get a big game of Balderdash or Imagine if going to a coffee shop
• Go dance in the rain
• Go to Goodwill and find a Vintage Spring Dress and some jewelry
Our family:
We do a lot of things together, family night at least once a week. Make good meals and yummy desserts. We play a game or curl up with popcorn and have movie dates.
Charity and I do girl adventures like cook good veggie meals or desserts, get a cup of tea and milk and do pedicures or go shopping. The guys go 4-wheeling and shoot things.
We also celebrate birthdays, Valentines, Easter, Christmas. We celebrate each other’s accomplishments. We implement the 7-7-7 plan.
Important for your relationships: The devil wants us to be isolated and to deal with our problems alone. He makes a big case and makes us think were the only ones that are going through this – Penguin video.
We get together with 3 other couples once a year to go on a vacation together; all are pastors of large churches except us.
I have a group of like-minded women that I get together with once a year. They are amazing women.
I talk to my best friend several times a week and my mother.
This group of women – we get together in Dallas – hotel together, go out to eat, share our hearts; we eat chocolate, shop, laugh, cry, pray over and encourage each other; very honest.
Some of them have struggles in their marriages and with their kids. One year we were struggling financially and they bought me a bunch of cute clothes and blessed the socks off of me.
So healthy! We come away encouraged, the strength of the group becomes your strength, blessed to be connected with peoples lives.
To stay healthy – we have to be connected with like minded people – people who will push you to grow closer to God.
Food that We Eat
Affects your emotional life, feeling of well being.
You are the only one who has the choice everyday – every meal – what you put into this body. People don’t force you to eat stuff – it’s your choice – your future is in your hands.
If you choose you can pack your pantry full of Twinkies and eat them 24/7. When you got sick, you pray God heal me.
He’ll say I gave you beautiful strawberries, broccoli and fresh spinach leaves – healthy chicken with no hormones or pesticides, salmon in the sea, juicy oranges with vitamin C.
You think you have eaten but your body doesn’t even recognize as food.
Junk food takes energy from our bodies to process and then it gives nothing back in return.
They did a study on Twinkies, a 12 year study & wanted to see how long shelf-life was. After 12 years, they decided to test it, opened it, tested it, tasted it – just like brand new – after 12 years. Guess what? The shelf-life is longer than 12 years!
The conclusion of the study was: if Mother Nature didn’t touch it, why should we?
No natural process of breaking down; so filled with chemicals and preservatives.
Put a piece of fruit or meat or bread on a plate & leave it, it will naturally rot or break down because it’s got live enzymes in it. *Canned food doesn’t have enzymes.
God is a God of life. We are living beings. We need to eat LIVE things the way God made them, not processed.
But our world is toxic, pollutants in air, chemical in soil. We haven’t farmed like God said, to let the soil rest, replenish it. The soil feeds the plants, the animals eat the plants, and we eat animals and plants.
Because our soil is depleted, an orange is 65% less nutritious than it was 100 years ago.
Fertilized with manure, compost and other natural things, people would let soil set, our produce was a lot healthier.
That’s the difference between organic & inorganic foods. Organic has no chemicals and it is much more nutrients then others.
We live in a ‘Toxic’ world – our bodies build these things (toxins) up if we don’t get rid of them, we get diseases the toxins store in organs and tissues, cancer & children with cancer.
Why fasting is so important? God knew pollution & junk. When we fast, it rids our bodies of toxins.
Drink pure water; 6-8 glasses a day.
Eating habits at the HA
Obviously, we can’t get organic food.
But you can add raw food to you diet. Want snacks? Buy apples, baby carrots, raisins, raw nuts. Snack on that. If you have popcorn popper, eat popcorn
Go to Barn Door Café in Lindale on the Corner of Hwy 69 and 16 – all organic foods. Granary right by Rockwell’s has great cookies, candy bars with natural sugars, raw nuts; good stuff.
In cafeteria, they might be serving lasagna, or some kind of cooked entrée, you can have that but have smaller servings. Have a BIG salad with it. Eat a lot of raw foods with every thing, more fruit in the morning.
If you just do that, and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day with juice or milk, it’s good. Add vitamins. Get mom to buy them.
Limit fried foods to 2-3 times a month.
Your health will improve!
You’ll feel better. Your skin and hair will look better. Your emotions will be much more stabilized and you have a lot more energy.
Can I get Mrs. Luce’s notes from the healthy living seminar? Thanks.
